Jane MacIntosh

Jane MacIntosh

Chief Officer

Jane was born and raised in Thurso and worked in further and higher education for 25 years.  During this tenure, she was awarded a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

In April 2024, Jane began working as Chief Officer at Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau (CCAB), leading the development of new and innovative support and services to meet community service demand.  Jane is passionate about CCAB's work and committed to delivering further successes through service enhancements.

  Experienced in strategic management, business planning, leadership, and community partnership, Jane is passionate about supporting third-sector growth.  She feels privileged to work closely with the board of trustees to achieve the organisation's charitable objectives.

Triage

Kerrie joined Caithness CAB as an Administration Volunteer following a career break after 25 years’ service with the NHS as an Outpatients Secretary.   In 2022 Kerrie became an employee of Caithness CAB as Bureau Administrator before moving into her Triage role.  Kerrie was born and brought up in Caithness and feels great pride in the support and help Caithness CAB provides to our community, as a team.

Welfare Rights Administrator and Generalist Adviser

Lewis is both a Welfare Rights Administrator and a (volunteer) Generalist Adviser, whilst currently studying for my Bachelor of Laws (LLB). 

Since joining the team at Caithness CAB, he has discovered a real passion for delivering tangible 
results for clients, and this will remain one of the main driving forces behind his commitment to the bureau and the clients it serves.

Fiona Morrison

Specialist Adviser

Fiona initially started working on a joint agency project with Ormlie Community Association and Caithness CAB to provide support and computer access to universal credit claimants. Following this, she became an employee of Caithness CAB in 2019.

Throughout her time with the organisation, Fiona has taken on a variety of roles, including benefits and energy advice, as well as the Session Supervisor role. 

Supporting clients and seeing the positive impact of our work on individuals and their families makes her role as a Caithness CAB adviser deeply rewarding.

Elaine

Elaine McIvor

Generalist Adviser

Elaine was born and raised in Caithness and has worked in many different positions, ranging from care, bar work, kitchen duties, and now works for Caithness CAB as a General Adviser since 2023.   

Elaine’s role includes supporting and advising clients on a range of topics to help them move forward.  Elaine finds the role rewarding and overall enjoys working with Caithness CAB and her colleagues.

Sarah-Louise Foster

Generalist Adviser

Sarah-Louise is a Generalist Advisor who started with the Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau in 2024.  She was born in Germany and raised in the UK, and speaks both English and German fluently.

Sarah-Louise is passionate about helping people navigate a wide range of everyday challenges.  She enjoys her role within the bureau and aims to bring a friendly, grounded approach to helping others find clear, practical solutions.

Emma Henderson

Generalist Adviser

Emma was born and raised in Thurso.  After her education, she took time out to enjoy raising her family. 

In November of 2025, Emma joined the Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau as a Generalist Adviser alongside Alan.  Together, they are working on a new, innovative outreach programme to make Caithness CAB accessible to the broader community. 

With years of experience in the public sector, Emma takes pleasure in working with the public.  She is passionate about putting her energy towards helping as many people as possible in the future.

Alan Hargrave

Generalist Adviser

Alan was born in Dumfries but moved to Caithness so young that he remembers nothing before then.  After completing a degree in History and Politics, Alan worked for the Department for Work and Pensions, focusing on welfare and supporting the most vulnerable claimants. 

In November 2025, Alan joined the Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau as a Generalist Adviser and will be carrying out outreach on behalf of the Bureau to bring its services to all corners of the county.  Alan is passionate about ensuring that all people have the same level of access to the Bureau's services, regardless of their circumstances.

With experience in untangling the ins and outs of the benefit system and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the community, Alan has a passion for enabling people from all walks of life to live fulfilling lives.

Nicolle Robertson

Generalist Adviser

Nicolle was initially employed as a cleaner with Caithness CAB and was quickly inspired by observing the support and assistance the bureau offers to the community.  So much so, when an adviser position became available, she had no hesitation in applying for the position.  Having the opportunity to work as a General Adviser, Nicolle continues to support and assist clients and feels her knowledge increases daily. 

Nicolle enjoys her role and the sense of pride that comes with being successful in supporting clients.

Nicolle has recently taken on the role as Food Insecurity Adviser which allows her further opportunity to support and advise individuals and their families.

I started work with Caithness CAB as a Money Adviser in May 2004, having previously worked in banking and volunteering as an adviser with Caithness CAB. 

I completed an HNC in Business Administration in 1998 at a local college and, in 2014, gained a Certificate in Money Advice Practice through a distance-learning course with Staffordshire University.  In 2016, I scored in the top 2% on a standardised intelligence test and subsequently became a member of Mensa. 

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and listening to a variety of music, mainly country.

Richard MacLeod

Specialist Adviser

Richard was born and raised in Wick and worked in wholesale distribution for three years prior to his employment at Caithness Citizen’s Advice Bureau.

In November 2021, Richard started working as a Trainee Generalist Advisor with Caithness CAB through the kickstart scheme.  Richard has since progressed to become a session supervisor as part of his specialist advising role.

Richard is passionate about providing holistic support to clients to ensure they achieve the best outcome for their situation. 

Experienced in delivering council tax and energy advice, providing IT support, and coordinating with other agencies. 

Richard feels privileged to work at Caithness CAB and looks forward to continuing to deliver a holistic service for service users.

As an Energy Advisor with Citizens Advice, I help people navigate energy challenges -from understanding bills to finding financial support.  I am passionate about reducing clients' stress and empowering them with practical, straightforward advice.

Steven Smith

Steven Smith

Team Leader

Steven began volunteering with Caithness CAB in 2009 and has held the position of Specialist Team Leader since May 2025. I have held numerous positions within the bureau over the years, including Administration Assistant and Welfare Rights Officer, and was responsible for health and safety in the Wick bureau before its closure. I also serve as the bureau’s Data Protection Officer, informing and advising staff and volunteers on CAB’s data protection obligations.

Working with CAB gives him a unique opportunity to be part of a valued, non-judgemental, and inclusive organisation that makes a real impact on social policies and practices. Its network of experienced professionals is also invaluable for collaboration, engagement, and knowledge sharing.

Elaine McGee

Team Leader

Elaine is a Team Leader/ Specialist Adviser/Trainer who started with the Caithness Citizens Advice Bureau in 2016 as a volunteer generalist adviser. Elaine began volunteering after she had cared for her mother, who had dementia for many years. When her mother died, Elaine decided to volunteer as she was interested in the work that the bureau did and the help/advice given to its clients. 

Elaine volunteered for approximately 3 years and then became a member of staff (Training and Support Officer). She then went on to become a Team Leader, which is her main role at present, along with session supervising and safeguarding lead roles. 

Elaine is also an in-house trainer. Elaine is passionate about the work of the bureau and feels 
privileged to be able to assist clients in a wide range of everyday issues. No one day is the same in the bureau, and Elaine enjoys he challenges of the job and providing clients with holistic advice and assistance.
